Spray Tan FAQ

We offer Mystic Tan booths & Airbrush spray tanning with no appointment needed for either service, at all 3 locations. 

Mystic Tan is an automated spray tan booth. 

Airbrush tans are done by a member of our  team by hand. 

We use the same product for both services, Norvell venetian. 

 Keep in mind that you’ll want to allow your spray tan to develop for 6-8 hours. The product will stop developing around 24 hours. We always recommend doing your spray tan 2 days before so you one day to allow it to develop.I.e. – If you event is Saturday, we say spray tan on Thursday evening and sleep in it, or Friday morning if you have no plans for the day and can allow it to develop without creating any blemishes. NO LOTION, PERFUME, OR DEODERANT WITH ALUMINUM These products can act as a barrier, or even change the natural balance of your skin, creating undesirable spray tan results.  

There is no age limit for spray tanning! 

We spray everyone from 8-80!

SHOWER, SHAVE, EXFOLIATE 

SHOWER - For best results, shower the night before, or a minimum of 3 hours before. Showering too close to your spray tan, will leave your pores open, and you may risk the chance of the solution settling into your pores uneven. Dove products are not recommended for spray tans. Dove products change the natural PH of your skin, which will lead to spots, uneven areas, and fast fading. 

EXFOLIATE- But don’t overdo it. Spray tans go on more evenly if the surface of your skin is smooth, and any dead or dry skin is removed. Be sure not over exfoliate. Over exfoliating could create uneven areas, if one area is smoother than others. Be sweet to your skin, just lightly scrub. 

SHAVE - Before a tan, it’s a good idea to remove all hair from the areas that will be sprayed. It will allow for a more even application. Like with showering, make sure it is at least 3 hours before.

Make sure any previous spray tans are 100% off – layering products creates uneven, very patchy fading. 

Use a spray tan remover product if exfoliating is not getting it off, remember you don’t want to over scrub. 

IS IT YOUR FIRST TIME?

If it’s your first time ever getting a spray tan, or if you’re getting tanned before a special event, have a ‘test tan’ in advance. Getting a test tan will help you determine how your skin responds, how dark you want to be, how long it will last on your skin, etc.  Knowing these things will allow for a seamless experience for your big event!

During your you can wear undergarments, a bathing suit, or nothing at all. 

We do require men to wear undergarments.

To your appointment, loose clothes, dark colored clothes, and sandals! You want to protect your new tan from rubbing and friction. Tight clothing can streak your tan pulling it on and off. Wear loose comfy clothing, to lessen the chance of wiping away your new tan. NO GYM, NO SWEATING, NO TIGHT CLOTHES. In the event of rain, we suggest wearing long sleeves, pants, closed toe shoes and bringing rain gear. Better safe than sorry! 

CHILL - Make sure you plan your tan at a time where you have 6-8 hours to let your tan develop without any interruptions!

NO WATER ACTIVITES!  - It’s important to avoid any sweating, showering, swimming, or washing dishes, etc. 

DON’T SCRUB YOUR SKIN - Once you’re able to shower, be sure to use a mild or tan safe soap that won’t strip your new tan. Exfoliating or scrubbing with your new spray tan will make it fade significantly faster. 

Average 7-10 days. 

Every person’s skin is different, and your skin care regimen is important. You can expect your customized tan to last 7 to 10 days with proper moisturizing. Following all the steps before, during, and after the application are a vital part of making your tan last . BE AWARE – Chlorine, hot water, scrubbing, sweating, showering more often, exfoliating, using department store lotions, and other skin related activities or products may make your tan fade faster than it normally would. 

 NO! 

We only use product that is a brown, not orange solution. Your skin, and the amount of DHA, as well as other key ingredients in the tanning product your using, determines the color or your spray tan.

 Our spray tan solution is a quality trusted brand, that consistently delivers brown results.  

 
If you are extremely fair, please keep in mind that although you want to be tan, a double spray may not be the best choice for you. Too much DHA is often what make people turn orange.
